My First Post
Natalie, I just want you to know that I created this for the soul purpose of commenting on your blog! I hope you appreciate my comment! :-)
It has been a long time since I have posted on a blog, and seeing as how I have no time, I probably won't update this one very often. But, I am a big fan of stalking people via their blogs, so it is only fair that I give back. I warn you now that there will be no dishy gossip and most of my posts will have to do with a) thesis, b) RA stuff, or c) thesis.
Ha, as I am sitting her writing this I hear yelling and cheering coming from my window and I look out and see a massive group of people congrugating on the quad outside my dorm. I'm talking over 100 people. So, I immediately race over to my neighbors room (who has a balcony facing the quad) to investigate. We ask a passing guy what is going on and he replies, "Smoke Forrest." What is "Smoke Forrest?" you may be asking yourselves. Well, I had thought it was merely legend. Apparently, every Wednesday night at midnight, students from all 5 campuses gather and an arbitrarily decided location and smoke copious amount of pot. Tonight, they chose the Jaqua Quadrangle at Scripps. My friends and I watched as Campus Safety drove up and the massive group of people took off running in all directions. Hilarious. As I walked down the hall to the bathroom, the hall reeked of Nag Chamba (the incense preferred by potheads) and pot. Ah, college. Gotta love it.
As far as thesis goes (because that's what you all really want to know about), I finished my annotated bibliography for seminar tomorrow (hooray!). As far as RA goes, Nat and I hosted our first community building program tonight and it was a hit, if I do say so myself. We asked everyone who wanted to participate to open their doors at 9:30 and then we came around with cookies, tea, and hot chocolate and got to know some of our residents. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of residents who had their doors open. It was great.
That's it for tonight. More later!
