Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans

It seems that my moving home to Bakersfield has been firmly established. Here's the breakdown:

In March, I will start classes at Cal State LA. Speficially, I will be taking Abnormal Psychology and Elementary Statistics. In order to be able to devote the appropriate amount of time, I will have to quit my job here at Avid Exposure, which was inevitable anyway. So, I will be looking for an easy part time job and a volunteer job with a mental health facility in Pasadena (preferably).

At the end of May/beginning of June I will be moving home and taking Child Psychology and Development at Cal State Bakersfield, finding a job, an apartment, and a volunteer position with a mental health facility in Bakersfield.

Finally, in late September I will begin the Masters of Science program in Counseling Psychology at Cal State Bakersfield.

That's the timeline for now. What else happens in that timeline is yet to be seen. I will hopefully work in some travel and fun times with friends into all that madness. It will be so great to be closer to my parents and Chris and my other good Bako friends. I will miss everyone in LA and, God help me, I'm sure I will miss LA as well. But, Bako is only a few hours away (not even that), so I am sure I will be back here often.

My life would be easier if...

There were more left turn lights in LA, particularly Hollywood, instead of so many unprotected lefts.

My house was warmer in the morning so I could get out of my bed without shivering uncontrollably.

People in LA drove consistently.

I could stay asleep all night and not wake up a billion-and-a-half times.

There was a Starbucks within walking distance of my office. Seriously, there is a Starbucks every five feet elsewhere in the world. Why is this so hard?

I knew without a doubt what I wanted to do with my life.

Everyone I loved was within 20 miles of me instead of spread out everywhere.

This past weekend was very interesting and should make a good post, but I will let Chris recount it. Hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!

Grumble, grumble...

I am tired and cranky and want the weekend to get here already.

Longest week EVER.

That is all.

A silver toothbrush and a red silk dress

I realized that it has been a while since I wrote an actual post, not just reposted something else or filled out a survey. There are a few things I could update about including, but not limited to: the holiday break, this past weekend, and my future. However, none of these things interests me to write about in full, so I will briefly touch on all three.

Firstly, the holiday break was not only much needed but also wonderful. I had a fabulous time with family and friends and it really made me homesick for Bakersfield. I never thought that would happen.

Which leads me to the decision I have come to regarding my future. As of now, it looks like I will be moving home to Bakersfield at the end of the summer/beginning of fall to start a master's program at CSUB. I will be (hopefully) getting my MS in Couseling/Psychology and my license for Marriage and Family Therapy. Ideally, I want to work in conjunction with CBCC (Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center) doing individual counseling for family members of cancer patients, caretakers, and cancer patients. Though there are a lot of group therapy options in Bakersfield for this, but there aren't many options for individual counseling. So, we'll see.

And finally, I had a great, relaxing weekend. I really needed it, too, because last week was a little intense emotionally. All weekend, I basically did nothing except watch movies and sleep. I did manage to get out of my house and see DREAMGIRLS on Saturday, which I highly reccommend. It was amazing. Great music, acting, story, and costumes. I really enjoyed it and I had really high expectations. To be honest, it didn't exactly meet my expectations, but it didn't disappoint me, either. Other than that, Chris, Nat and I hung out and ate. Good times all around.

Well, that's about it for now. If I get inspired later this week, I may post something slightly more interesting. We'll see. :) I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Bored at work

Forgive the survey posts. I'm bored and self-involved. :)

1. Will you be looking for a new job? Most likely in the fall
2. Will you be looking for a new relationship? Hopefully not!
3. New house? New apartment most likely. A house is a little out of my price range at the moment
4. What will you do different in 2007? Focus more on being patient, understanding, and kind with everyone
5. New Years resolution? Be healthier
6. What will you not be doing in 2007? I will not be skydiving. What kind of question is this?
7. Any trips planned? Several I hope. So far the run down is: Europe, Mammoth, Cambria, Vegas, and somewhere with Nat (not in that order)
8. Wedding plans? Ha!
9. What's on your calendar? The biggest and soonest thing on my calendar is the Grammy Publicist Breakfast Meet and Greet next Tuesday.
10. What can't you wait for? Taking the next step in my life.
11. What would you like to see happen different? I would like to have a different prespective about my life.
12. What about yourself will you be changing? Hopefully, I will be adding in some exercise
13. What happened in '06 that you didn't think would ever happen? I fell in love, quit my first job and became a publicist. Didn't think any of those things would happen.
14. Will you be nicer to the people you care about? See: be more patient, understanding, and kind. Not that I am so bad right now, but I think that could always use improvement.
15. Will you dress differently this year than you did in 06? Not different, but I will be getting more free designer wear. Woo hoo!
16. Will you start or quit drinking? Neither. Who would answer "start drinking?"
17. Will you have better relationship with your family? Maybe a closer relationship, but it is good already.
18. Will you do charity work? I hope to.
19. Will you go to bars? Definitely. The Belv, anyone?
20. Will you be nice to people you don't know? Again, See: #14
21. Do you expect 2007 to be a good year for you? I think this is going to be a big year with a lot of change.
22. How much did you change from this time last year til now? My situation has changed dramatically and I have grown as a person, but I don't think I have changed that much.
23. Do you plan on having a child? Not in 2007!
24. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now? Most definitely seeing as how I have the best friends around.
25. Major lifestyle changes? Not really...
26. Will you be moving? Yes. The plan is to move home to Bako in fall of this year. More about that in a later post.
27. What will you make sure doesn't happen in 2007 that happened in 06? I will not quit a job without having a clear plan and prospects in mind for the future.
28. What are your New Years Eve plans? I went to the annual Burzlaff shindig. Good times.
29. Will you have someone to kiss at midnight? Yep! ;)
30. Wish for 2007: That I and everyone I care about will have a happy, healthy year.
