My innermost thoughts and feelings... beware!

One way or another

When I left LA, I made all the promises you make when moving away. "Oh, I'll visit," "We'll see each other all the time!" etc. At the time, I didn't have any specific plans to visit LA in the near future. Summer school was starting, and I had a lot of things to get done before school started up in the fall. However, I have been back about six weeks now and I have been back to LA a total of four times, three of the times in one week. The first time was to help Natalie finish up with apartment stuff before she moved away ad we said goodbye to 844 E. Calaveras St. forever.

The next time I went down was a very spur-of-the-moment trek to take Shanna to LAX. Shanna, Chris, and I left Bakersfield at 3 AM one Saturday morning and returned to Bakersfield (sans Shanna) at 7 AM. You might think this is fantastic time to get down to LAX and back, but we actually did hit not one but two accidents on the Grapevine on our way back. Otherwise, it was a pretty uneventful trip. I will say this, though. You see a lot of interesting people at a truck stop at 4 in the morning. As you could probably imagine.

Four days later, the Burzlaff's and I headed down to their cousins place in Castaic for the Fourth of July. True, Castaic isn't exactly LA, but it is in Los Angeles county, so I am counting it. It was a blast. Not much else to report there.

And finally, as Chris mentioned in his post, we saw a fantastic show at the Hollywood Bowl three days after the fourth. I won't go into detail since Chris already did. I do have pictures from the Kwik-E-Mart and the concert, but they are on my laptop which, for some reason, doesn't like our wireless internet. But, as soon as I can get internet, I will post them.

So, even though I no longer live there, I feel as though I have experienced more of Los Angeles since moving back to Bakersfield than I did when I actually lived there. It does help having someone to experience it with. :)
